Toffee Cats

Toffee Cats is a minimalist yet irresistibly charming puzzle game in the vein of the Flow / Numberlinks series. Its objective is simple: fill the grid by connecting each cat’s head to its matching tail, ensuring that no paths cross or overlap. As you progress, the puzzles grow in complexity, introducing larger grids and new types of cats to connect.

Toffee Cats offers 900 relaxing levels, divided into seven categories based on their difficulty. However, compared to the traditional Flow-style games, even the hardest levels here remain very approachable and take only mere seconds to solve.

A design choice that I always appreciate in these games is having the levels crafted so that all paths are straightforward, without needing to awkwardly twist connections just to fill the board. The levels in Toffee Cats are exactly like that, which is very refreshing. Additionally, the progress is saved for any unfinished level, allowing you to come back later and continue solving it. It’s also possible to have multiple levels in progress.

The visuals are undeniably adorable. Each cat’s head and tail are linked not only by color but also by matching clothing items or accessories. Connecting them triggers a delightfully cute purring sound and a little smile from them, adding to the game’s cozy, lighthearted atmosphere. Some tiles, represented by cats lounging in boxes in various poses, act as blockers on the grid. Their purpose is not only cosmetic, but their presence on the grid also directs the player on how to best build the required connections.

As a longtime fan of Flow-style puzzles, I truly appreciate Toffee Cats for its clean, lovable design and accessible gameplay. It strikes a sweet balance between simplicity and fun, making it a must-try for puzzle enthusiasts and casual gamers alike.
