Pink Noise (Sneak-Peek)
Pink Noise is a stylish, atmospheric visual novel that delivers a gripping horror experience through an impressive cinematic presentation with meaningful narrative choices. The story follows a group of high school students who stumble upon a mysterious VHS tape. Not only does this tape seem to contain unsettling things, but it promises to drag them into a spiral of fear and supernatural events.
Pros
- Beautiful hand-drawn visual style with expressive characters and impressive presentation
- Highly cinematic storytelling: scenes change every few lines, making the whole experience feel dynamic
- Lots of animated environments and visual details that bring scenes to life
- Scenes with interactive elements or even occasional mini-games, adding variety beyond reading
- Fully voiced in Russian (aside from narration) with solid emotional delivery
- High-quality English write-up with elevated, sometimes poetic diction
- Customizable text and auto-delay speeds, allowing you to set the reading pace
- Eerie, atmospheric soundtrack that enhances tension and mood perfectly
- A few well-timed jump scares that are mostly unexpected
- Choices that meaningfully affect character relationships and story direction
- Clear creative identity, offering a distinct tone and style
Cons
- There’s an auto-forward feature, but no option to skip previously read text, which makes replaying routes less convenient
- Even though a read text history is available, you can’t quickly scroll back using the mouse wheel, which sometimes breaks the reading flow
- Occasional text overflow issues, where lines don’t fully fit the box and clicking skips to the next line instead of revealing the rest of the current paragraph
