Snapshots
Snapshots is a calm and cozy game that’s perfect for players who enjoy tidying up and organizing objects. It’s very similar to A Little to the Left, both regarding its visual style as well as its core mechanics, though it’s noticeably shorter.
While Snapshots features only 14 levels, several of them unlock extra minigames or puzzles with multiple stages. For example, clicking on a Game Boy console after arranging all the items in a level triggers a platformer minigame with multiple stages. These extras are a welcome addition and help add variety to the gameplay. The level design also deserves praise, as some of the items you sort cleverly provide hints for solving or unlocking these additional puzzles. For those in need of some assistance, this guide provides some help in figuring things out.
Each level has a single solution, with one exception. Items snap satisfyingly into place when positioned correctly, making it easy to identify their intended locations. However, simply placing items where they fit isn’t always enough. You’ll also need to reorder or rearrange them within a compartment by matching finer details, such as how full each jar in a set is. Additionally, the board holding all the items must be centered to complete the level.
Overall, Snapshots is a lovely experience, with its short length being its only real drawback. Even when accounting for the optional minigames, the entire game can easily be completed in under an hour.
