Pomelo & Friends: Sevilla
Despite being a hidden object game built with the familiar “Find 100 cute animals” formula, Pomelo & Friends: Sevilla distinguishes itself from its peers through its incredibly detailed art style reminiscent of “Where’s Waldo?” games. Each level is packed with crowds of people, all featuring unique traits and facial expressions that make the scenes feel lively and distinct. The dogs are masterfully hidden among them, either tucked into coats or partially obscured by other people, and only rarely hiding in plain sight. This encourages close inspection of the scenes, even in their smallest details. Since some dogs appear quite tiny, a zoom tool is available to help with the search.
The game features five levels tailored around famous tourist attractions in the Spanish capital. Each of them tasks you with finding 20 dogs together with Pomelo (the star of the show) and a few other extra elements. These include a unique animal per level that produces funny sounds when clicked, as well as the mandatory cat (because, of course, cats insist on making themselves known, especially in a dog game).
All 100 collectible dogs are saved as stickers in a sticker book. Each sticker comes with an identity card listing the dog’s name, breed, and a short flavor text describing how Pomelo met them. Some descriptions are witty, while others contain playful puns, giving each dog a bit of personality.
Overall, Pomelo & Friends: Sevilla is a very charming hidden object game that impresses through its wonderfully hand-drawn artwork. It’s short and sweet, taking only about an hour to complete. The achievements revolve around fully clearing each level by finding all dogs and the other recurring elements, plus one secret achievement (which can be obtained in the Settings menu).
