Gaslamp Cases 6: Haunted Waters
Gaslamp Cases 6: Haunted Waters is another fun addition to eFunSoft’s casual detective series, this time featuring better visuals compared to its predecessors. Sadly, much like any other games published by HH-Games, this title also does not have Steam achievements (which is a real pity), but it still offers a great way to unwind.
This time, detective trio Morgan, Jack, and Eleanor investigate the merchant ship Asphodel, which has been missing for three months. Townsfolk believe the ship was cursed because it sailed through haunted waters, but the detectives plan to unearth the truth by boarding the Black Hawk and traveling that exact same route.
It’s a classic match-3 puzzle game, with all the familiar mechanics (power gems for multi-matches, various types of locked tiles, artifacts that drop to the bottom of the board, etc.). In each level, you are given a pre-set selection of power-ups to use freely to help clear the board. These are fixed per level, meaning you cannot buy more, and any unused ones won’t transfer over to the next stage. By completing these levels, you earn stars which are then used to unlock the next story bits and progress the investigation.
Gaslamp Cases 6 is ultimately a cozy, match-3 game with a nice story. It’s a good choice to unwind with for a few hours.
